ACDP Collaboration With The Aceh Education Sector Development Coordination Team

On Tuesday, December 4, 2012, representatives of the ACDP Secretariat took part in a Plenary Meeting of the Aceh Education Sector Development Coordination Team (Tim Koordinasi Pembangunan Pendidikan Aceh or TK-PPA) in Banda Aceh. The meeting was chaired by the Director of the TK-PPA, Bapak T. Said Mustafa. Balitbang (MoEC) was represented at the meeting by Bapak Sabar Budi Rahardjo. Participants included the Head of the Provincial Education Office, representatives of the Aceh Education Council, the Dayah Education Development Body, the Institute for Education Quality Assurance, the Aceh Research Forum, Unsyiah, the International Centre for Aceh and Indian Ocean Studies, representatives from donor assisted programs, representatives from the district governments of Aceh Tengah, Aceh Singkil, Lhokseumawe, Pidie Jaya, Sabang, Gayo Lues and Simeulue, and local media representatives.

In response to a request for assistance from the TK-PPA, ACDP team presented a plan to support education policy research in collaboration with the Aceh Provincial Government.

On Wednesday, December 5, 2012, a second meeting was held to review the priorities of the Province to carry out education policy research. The participants identified three research topics to be addressed with support from ACDP: a review of priorities for vocational education; an evaluation of the impact of special autonomy and decentralization on the education sector; and teacher distribution and recruitment practices. To support the implementation of these three policy studies, the participants agreed to establish task forces consisting of members of the Aceh Provincial Government, the TK-PPA, university research institution and related institutions. These task forces will prepare Terms of References (TOR) for the proposed studies and ACDP will provide support for implementation in 2013.
